Roy Buchanan – American Axe – Live in 1974

Roy Buchanan invented many of the techniques that are now the vocabulary of the Telecaster during his rollercoaster career. He first hit the road in 1958 backing singer Dale Hawkins, criss-crossing America, soaking up the sounds, and knocking out audiences who never knew his name as a sideman. He settled in Washington DC in the early ’60s and struggled in anonymity until he was “discovered” by PBS in 1971. This CD contains some his finest playing, selected from two performances at his peak in 1974.
